Flu Shot or NOT!

Have you ever heard of the Cochran Collaboration?  Neither had I until I read a blog on Natural News by PF Louis with the title, “Avoid vaccines and use these top four natural remedies for flu prevention instead”.  I have not believed in flu shots for quite a while, because I have never had the flu.  When I was working for the government, they would provide free flu shots.  Some of the people who got the shots, got the flu.  The people who I knew who did not get the shots, like me, did not get the flu.  So why get flu shots?

In studies done by the Cochran Collaboration in 2010, it was found that flu vaccinations don’t work. The Cochran Collaboration is not affliated with any pharmaceutical company, FDA, CDC or any other corporation.  They are not pushed to comply with the money.  They collect and review studies and independently analyze the data.

“A review from The Cochrane Collaboration, a widely respected research-analysis team, went over all the evidence, and entered its conclusion:
In healthy adults, no flu vaccine delivers protection from the flu.

It doesn’t protect against transmission of flu viruses from person to person, either.”  This is from “The vaccine empire has collapsed”

He based this article on the Cochran reviews:

“As always, The Cochrane Collaboration did an exhaustive review of all previous studies on flu vaccines they could discover. They rejected the studies that were badly constructed. In some cases, to expand available data, they contacted individual researchers who had conducted studies.
Therefore, Cochrane’s findings represent the best of the published literature on flu
vaccines. However, because the Cochrane team owes nothing to pharmaceutical companies, they analyzed the literature with sober eyes and minds.
Here is an interesting comment from the analysis: “The review showed that reliable evidence on influenza vaccines is thin but there is evidence of widespread manipulation of conclusions…”

This is the summary that I found on the Cochran website: (“This summary was produced using rigorous methods by the impartial and independent Cochrane Collaboration. – See more”)

Vaccines for preventing seasonal influenza and its complications in people aged 65 or older

February 17, 2010

Influenza vaccination of elderly individuals is recommended worldwide as people aged 65 and older are at a higher risk of complications, hospitalisations and deaths from influenza. This review looked at evidence from experimental and non-experimental studies carried out over 40 years of influenza vaccination. We included 75 studies. These were grouped first according to studydesign and then the setting (community or long-term care facilities). The results are mostly based on non-experimental (observational) studies, which are at greater risk of bias, as not many good quality trials were available. Trivalent inactivated vaccines are the most commonly used influenza vaccines. Due to the poor quality of the available evidence, any conclusions regarding the effects of influenza vaccines for people aged 65 years or older cannot be drawn. The public health safety profile of the vaccines appears to be acceptable.”

These articles were also found referenced on the Cochran Colloration website about the effectiveness of the flu vaccine:

Why the Flu Vaccine Doesn’t Work A bit about immunology and biochemistry  By Anne Marie Helmenstine, Ph.D.,

Friday, February 22, 2013 Shock CDC Study: Flu Vaccine Ineffective in 91% of Seniors  About.com Guide

“Overall, the CDC claimed this year’s flu vaccine was “moderately effective” and made the unprovable claim that “influenza vaccination reduced the risk for medical visits resulting from influenza A and B by 56%.”
But since young people generally have stronger immune systems than seniors it’s unclear how many of the younger test subjects would not have gotten the flu whether they were vaccinated or not.”

So why do the medical and media push flu vaccines like you will die if you do not get one.  Why? well because, we know who pays them with their ads and also, for probably every shot they stick in the arms of their patients.

I did not include more articles from Cochran, but there are more.  Flu shots might be effective for some, but just like the over use of antibotics, can the overuse of vaccines also cause problems?  (My thoughts.)  Why expose yourself to the chemicals that they put in the vaccine into you if “ it might cover the potential flu epidemic”?  They might have guessed wrong.

Instead, be healthy and use some natural immune system promoters.  Take a good Vitamin D3, astragalus, which is an immune regulator—it will adjust your immune system up or down according to what’s needed, golden seal and/or echinacea, elderberry syrup, or other healthy immune builders.  And really important is, improve your lifestyle and diet by avoiding processed foods with their toxic additives, unhealthy oils (canola, corn, etc.),sweetners and GMOs. Add healthy oils, such as coconut oil, olive, avocado or grapeseed oils, eat organic and fresh foods that we here at HNWF have shared about previously.

About Marilyn

I am a "retired senior" (I've been a school librarian and library tech for a government research facility) who is now pursuing a dream of a home business sewing bags of all sorts, crafting and being the creative person I have always wanted to be. I grew up in the center of Illinois and dreamed of actually living back in the state of Colorado where I was born and lived till the age of 7. That dream came true when I met my husband of 43 years while working together in Estes Park. I am interested in alternative medicine, continuing the good health I've always had, while returning to the pre-processed food era of: eating well, losing weight, and using products that do not harm the environment, me, my family and friends. I am for labeling GMO’s, using sustainable products, organics and finding solutions to everyday problems, like colds and sore muscles, using natural remedies. I have a positive attitude that has helped through a very hard year and will bring forth a life that will be full and happy. My family is wonderful and I am a happy lady, wife, mother, and grandma.
