Hemp is a variety of the Cannabis sativa plant. It is not the same as marijuana, as it does not contain the high levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the active ingredient that produces a high. Hemp has many industrial uses, but you can also obtain many health benefits from it by adding the seeds to your diet.” (1)

Hemp is often confused with its cousin marijuana.  But in truth, it cannot give you the munchies, the giggles or the dilated pupils.  The hemp plant is one of the earliest domesticated plants.  It can be used for medicines, textiles, food skin care and fuel.  The hemp seed is one of the most amazing and nutritious seeds nature has given us.

Hemp is a complete protein.  It contains more “acquired amino acids than milk, meat or eggs” (2) It is more digestible than soy and contains 47% oil, 78% of that in healthy omega 3 and 6, the essential oils in reducing heart disease. (2) By adding just 4 tablespoons of hemp seeds to a meal, it can help rein in the cravings for less healthy snacks.

Hemp oil is used in many skin products and Hemp fiber is used in making clothing, rope and other textiles. It is a fast growing plant, making it an excellent renewable resource.  The top growers of hemp are China, France and Chile. (3) The United States seems to still be in debate over whether hemp is a controlled substance so they are the lowest producers of this amazing plant.  Maybe they should look at the sites below and then realize what an amazing resource Hemp can be for all nations.
