Unlike Superman, Super Foods are real and don’t need a disguise.  Super Foods are simple, accessible and delicious.  They help in weight loss,  increase healthy skin tone and boost immune systems.  If you are eating whole foods, chances are you are eating these super foods right now!  Here are some examples:

  • Blueberries:  Packed with antioxidants, vitamin C, fiber and manganese.  These little berries can promote bone health, brain health, skin tone and help the immune system.
  • Wild Salmon: In a way this fish is a super hero, not only do they swim upstream to reproduce and die, they can help us stay heart healthy, skin healthy and brain healthy.
  • Nuts and Seeds:  These pack a protein and fiber punch in one swoop.  Also, most nuts contain antioxidants as well as vitamins and minerals essential to being healthy.
  • Dark Chocolate: The darker the better, this super food is filled with antioxidants and flavanols (which help in preserving the health of blood vessels.).  Melt a little and put it on blueberries for a super treat!

There are lots of resources for super foods out there and while most say the same things, the message is clear.  Super foods are whole foods, not processed.  By using organic, local foods you are boosting the super factor and being a super hero.
