The Food Pyramid is The Feed Lot Diet

In the Doctors’ Eades book, The 30-Day Low-Carb Diet Solution, they compare the USDA Food Pyramid with their local farmer’s cooperative Feed Lot Pyramid.  Why you ask?  They want the readers of this book to know why they are recommending a low-carbohydrate diet rather than a low-fat, high-carb diet.

Farmers have used carbohydrates for years to fatten their cattle.  What is surprising is that the USDA would have us eat almost the same amount of carbs as the cattle.  The USDA Pyramid recommends 60% carbohydrates, 25% fats, and 15% protein.  The Feed Lot Pyramid feeds the hogs 61% carbohydrates, 25% fats and 14% protein.  Uh-oh.  Wasn’t the USDA pyramid supposed to keep us slim and healthy.

Did you know that our daily requirement for complex carbohydrates –the bottom of the pyramid—bread, cereal, rice and pasta group with 6-11 servings is zero, while what your body does need is protein and fats and the carbs that come from fruits and vegetables?  The so-called health experts were bad mouthing the doctors about pushing a low carb diet—not the high carb diet. America got FAT, FATTER and REALLY FAT.  The reason: We were told to eat the FEED LOT DIET.

About Marilyn

I am a "retired senior" (I've been a school librarian and library tech for a government research facility) who is now pursuing a dream of a home business sewing bags of all sorts, crafting and being the creative person I have always wanted to be. I grew up in the center of Illinois and dreamed of actually living back in the state of Colorado where I was born and lived till the age of 7. That dream came true when I met my husband of 43 years while working together in Estes Park. I am interested in alternative medicine, continuing the good health I've always had, while returning to the pre-processed food era of: eating well, losing weight, and using products that do not harm the environment, me, my family and friends. I am for labeling GMO’s, using sustainable products, organics and finding solutions to everyday problems, like colds and sore muscles, using natural remedies. I have a positive attitude that has helped through a very hard year and will bring forth a life that will be full and happy. My family is wonderful and I am a happy lady, wife, mother, and grandma.
