Combining and Downsizing – Dealing with a Big Change « Health Now, Wealth Forever

Spread the love

We are on the move again.  We are going back to the days when families lived together to share the costs of just living.  It will not be easy, but I know we will learn to respect each other and work for understanding.  We are hoping that having the age differences will inspire us all to learn and share experiences that will bring new inspiration and joy to us all.

I am a gatherer.  We downsized several years ago and now I see that I have again gathered too much stuff.  I do not know why it is so hard to let go of “my stuff”.   It is so silly to have so much stuff, clothes, knick-knacks, pigs—stuffed, figurines, mugs—so many pigs and I just like them all.  What to do?  I have been sorting my Mom’s clothes, thinking of the memories that I attach to those clothes.  I know in my head that there is somebody somewhere that could really use some nice used clothes.  I am not very good about letting go and keeping my possessions to a minimum.

My daughters are very good at this—so I am going to have them send me many positive thoughts about letting go of those things that are not necessary to keep.  My wonderful husband is so tolerant of my gathering—I also am so glad he is very gently helping me to let go and get rid of much of my gatherings.

I do hope to learn in this move that I can give away and still be a whole person without all “my stuff”.
