Conflict and Tao

Imagine if you will a punching bag; one of those big, heavy ones.  You have a choice: you can walk past it, just leaving it hanging there or you can push it as hard as you can.  If you let it alone, your story will continue on somewhere else than here.  If you pushed it, we will explore this.

After you push it, it swings back and hits you.  So you hit it back, which makes it come back even harder.  The more you retaliate, the more it retaliates. But the bag is just reflecting your force, it isn’t aware that it is retaliating.  Now you might think that this is common sense, it is amazing how often we use this same tactic to solve problems and deal with aggression.  What we push pushes back.  And the more we push, the more it pushes back.  Often it keeps pushing even after you stop.

So why not just pat it, let it pat you and continue living?  Seems that we would get a lot farther in life.

About Nathan

Hi! I am Nathan! So why am I here? That is my main question. I am fascinated by the current wave of science meeting with the philosophical questions throughout history. I am a Taoist and a disorganized dreamer who makes up new words to describe states of being and thought processes. I love to bring to you these simple yet powerful little inspirations and truths. I believe that each one of us is infinitely important and we are all connected. As Carl Sagan put it, “We are a way for the Cosmos to know itself.” We might be all connected, but you are still you. It is your perceptions that shape your reality. So join me in changing perceptions!
